Ways to Give

Build Into the Future of CHS

Every gift to CHS makes a difference and we are grateful for your support.  There are many ways to give to CHS and we encourage you to invest in our school in whatever ways match your interest and ability.

Tuition Assistance Fund

The Tuition Assistance Fund at Christian Heritage School exists to extend the blessing of an excellent Christian private education to families who would not otherwise be able to afford to pay tuition in full. Using the model of the disciples in Acts 4:35, the administration of the school allocates a portion of its resources to families demonstrating financial need. As a result, our community consists of a broad array of students from varying socioeconomic backgrounds.

Under IRS regulations, direct gifts to individuals are not tax-deductible. Gifts to the school’s Tuition Assistance Fund, however, are tax-deductible as long as they are made to meet the needs of any family in need of financial assistance to send their child to Christian Heritage School.

Tuition Sponsorship Fund

In 2004 CHS was approached by an anonymous donor who desired to assist families who required financial assistance to send their children to CHS but who needed more assistance than the Tuition Assistance Fund could provide. This donor’s heart for these families, combined with a very generous financial gift, was the beginning of the Tuition Sponsorship Fund, which has helped dozens of families since its inception.

Monies from the Tuition Sponsorship Fund are allocated in addition to the Tuition Assistance program.

Undesignated Gifts

Undesignated gifts are most welcome by CHS. Undesignated gifts are those in which the donor has not requested that the money given be used for any specific purpose, nor has the donor given any guidelines or restrictions for its use. Instead, the donor has given Christian Heritage permission to use the funds wherever they are most needed, which allows CHS to fill current or pressing needs and to fund special projects as they arise during the fiscal year.

Matching Gifts

Many companies offer a Matching Gift Program Be sure to ask if a portion of the contributions you make to CHS can be matched by your employer. Some employers will even match your donation dollar for dollar!

Please submit all paperwork to Laurie Willix in the Advancement Office, 203.590.6039 or .

Volunteer Grants

Over the course of a school year, CHS parents and friends contribute literally thousands of hours of volunteer service to support our school program. If you currently volunteer at CHS, or are interested in volunteering in some capacity, check to find out if your employer offers a Volunteer Grant program. If so, just by signing up and filling out some simple paperwork CHS could receive a donation in recognition of your efforts. Many of these programs are annual, so if you continue with your volunteer service and complete the necessary paperwork each year, CHS could receive an annual contribution.

United Way

If your company sponsors a United Way Workplace Campaign, you can designate your campaign gift to CHS…here’s how:

Get a copy of a United Way pledge card which should be readily available. There is a place on the card to put your name, contact information, and the amount that you would like to donate to the United Way. Below that, there is an option to designate your gift to the charity of your choice. The only requirement is that the charity be a 501 (c) (3) "non-profit" organization, which CHS is. The sentence says something to the effect of:

Please send $____ of my gift to the organization listed below:

You can designate part or all of your total United Way gift to CHS using the following information:

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an agency code?
There is no "agency code" needed to designate your gift to CHS - all you need to do is include our school’s name and address. CHS is on file with the United Way because others have designated us as the recipient of their United Way gifts, but we are not a "registered" United Way agency so using an “agency code” is not necessary.

Can I donate my gift anonymously?
The United Way pledge card will offer you the option of being an anonymous donor. If you check this box, the United Way will send CHS your gift but will not indicate to CHS that it is from you. While we certainly respect whatever your preference is, if donors are "anonymous" in the United Way system there is no way for CHS to confirm for you that the money that you designated has been received because your name would not be included or referenced on any check or report that CHS receives from United Way for your donation. As with any contribution given to CHS, we can keep your generosity to the school confidential.

Will I receive a receipt for my gift?
The United Way should send you a receipt for any gift that you give the United Way for tax purposes. However, when CHS receives United Way gifts and are given the donor name, we do send a note to the donor, letting them know that their gift, including the exact amount, has been received.
