HS Student Government Responsibilities

President: (must be entering your junior or senior year)
  • Preside over student government meetings, approximately one per week.
  • Help facilitate events, activities, and outreach for the high school, grades 9-12.
  • Assist in creating a high school environment where all students have an active part in the community.
  • Meet with the school administration for the purpose of communicating student government interests and concerns.
Vice President: (must be entering your junior or senior year)
  • In the event the president needs to step down for any reason, the Vice President will assume the responsibilities of the president.
  • Assist the President in fulfilling the above responsibilities.
  • Meet with the school administration for the purpose of communicating student government interests and concerns.
Activities Coordinator: (must be entering your sophomore, junior or senior year)
  • Work with the school administration to organize dates for activities for the high school, to include at least five major events during the school year.
Chaplain: (must be entering your junior or senior year)
  • Responsible to assist the chapel coordinator with worship and chapel content.
  • Responsible to assist in the development of an environment that encourages regular service and outreach.
Outreach Director:
  • Responsible to develop and promote at least one major outreach per semester for the high school.   Outreaches can be within our community (i.e., working with the Middle or Lower School), or outside of our community (i.e., Bridgeport Rescue Mission).
  • Assist class officers with developing outreach options for their grade.
Secretary/Treasurer: (must be entering your sophomore, junior or senior year)
  • Responsible for taking the minutes for each of the student government meeting, and maintaining a binder with a record of all student government meetings, decisions, and discussions.
  • Responsible for the selection and deposit of fees for high school events.
  • Responsible for thank you’s and correspondence to volunteers and parent sponsors throughout the year.
Class Representatives:
  • Responsible to effectively communicate to the student government student community ideas, interests and concerns.
  • Communicate from the student government to the student community decisions, responses, and visions for the year.
  • Attend approximately half of the student government officers meetings. (2 per month)
