SALT (Serve And Learn Together) Trips have historically looked like taking students outside their comfort zones to engage in cross-cultural missions and service projects. We've taken students to Uganda, Guatemala, India, the Dominican Republic, Philadelphia, and Portland, ME. We don't plan to do our normal SALT Trips this year, but we still want our students to see that God is at work all around the world, and that by seeing what HE is up to will stir our hearts for more worship. This year we are sponsoring 3 students from the Dominican Republic through an organization called Kid's Alive International. This is an organization that we have been connected to for almost 15 years. By sponsoring these students, they will have access to solid Christian education, health care, meals, and rich community. Each division (Lower school, middle school, and high school) will get to help sponsor a child. My hope is that we would be able to see this grow so that each grade would be sponsoring a child!
One week every month will be dubbed, DOLLAR WEEK to help support these three students (Teylor, Celina, and Diovelis). We are inviting students to bring in a dollar or even a few coins to help support their child if they feel compelled. I've attached a flyer so you can meet the three kids and hear more about the amazing work of Kid's Alive International.
In Students' Words
"I went to India on a missions trip with CHS and it has changed who I have become in the best possible way."
"Spending a week serving together, worshiping and sharing in small groups, built deeper and more intimate friendships."
"I was timid and slightly awkward at first, but as the trip progressed I became increasingly more comfortable. I was forming friendships with students I’d never talked to previously, being a part of unforgettable events, and touching the lives of others just as they had GREAT effects on mine."
