Alumni Testimony-Max Zacharko
Max Zacharko, Class of 2010, Lance Corporal, U.S. Marine Corps
As Veterans' Day nears and we anticipate our annual Veterans' Day Assembly, we'll feature the reflections of some of our alumni who serve, or have served, in the armed services.
Highlights of Military Career
Some of the field and training operations I have been able to do have helped show how my job not only impacts my unit but also the Marine Corps and the mission itself. Also, it's wonderful being involved with a local church out here that has many Marines, and getting to help lead worship with the youth in the community, directly impacting them and building the Kingdom of God.
What did your experience at Christian Heritage School mean to you, and how did it prepare you for a life of serving Christ and your country?
Christian Heritage School definitely helped shape my spirituality and grow me for a life of serving others. Even before the Marines, I was serving Him in the music industry, at local churches, and at a Christian college. Now, in the military, I think back on those tough classes that better prepared me for writing reports and papers and for analyzing the technology we use. CHS has definitely played a big part in shaping my life in the Marine Corps and through all of my further studies (both my bachelor's and master’s degrees).
What would you like to say to the students at Christian Heritage School?
My advice to current CHS students: never stop learning, always stay humble in all you do, do everything as if doing it for God, and never let anyone dictate what you should do with your life if God is telling you something else. Stay in His Word and listen for His guidance, and you won't go wrong.
