BOOKS NEEDED
Parents, we are in need of gently used or new board books and picture books appropriate for three and four year old children to use in our new program, “Story Time for Threes and Fours.” If you are able to donate any of these books, please drop them off in the Lower School Library. We thank you in advance for your help and generosity.

MathCOUNTS
MathCOUNTS is a middle school math club for 6th, 7th and 8th graders. It is an afternoon of fun problem solving questions that focuses on Algebra and Geometry. These problems tap into mathematical reasoning skills that challenge students beyond the normal math curriculum. The season runs from September through January, when the CHS math team competition is held. Those qualifying will represent CHS at the MathCOUNTS Southwestern CT competition held during the first week of February at Fairfield University. Teams that do well at the county level will continue on to the state meet in March. MathCOUNTS will meet Mondays in room 113 from 2:30-4:00pm with Mrs. Reens, beginning Monday, Sept. 28. There is no cost, but help with snacks is always welcomed. Please contact Mrs. Reens at sreens@kingsmen.org with any questions.

CHRISTIAN HERITAGE MATH LEAGUE
The Math League at CHS meets every Wednesday from 2:30-3:30pm in room 113 with Mrs. Reens, beginning Sept. 30. The league is part of the Fairfield County Math League. Math Meets are held SIX times a year at Wilton High School on the first Wednesday of every month from October through March. A team consists of six students, which are chosen each month based on their performance at the practices before the meets. All high school students are welcome to participate in the Math League, whether or not they come to the meets. Problem Solving Topics covered during math practices range from Pre-Algebra through Pre-Calculus. There is no fee, but students need to bring money for dinner and transportation ($5) on the days of the meets.

The Math League also sponsors the American Mathematics Competition (AMC) each year. This is a nationwide competition which will be held on Wednesday, February 24th this year. Many colleges recognize the accomplishments of students in this competition in their application process. The Math League practices also strive to help prepare students who wish to take this exam. Please contact Mrs. Susan Reens at sreens@kingsmen.org with any questions.

BOOK GROUP FOR CHS MOMS
If a great book, a good cup of coffee, and lively discussion and fellowship with other CHS moms entices you, please consider joining the CHS Moms’ Book Group. We will be meeting in the Lower School Library on Tuesday morning, October 6th. Please contact Mrs. Carol Smith with any questions at csmith@kingsmen.org.
