Dear Parents,
The following are announcements and upcoming events.
SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENTS FOR ALL GRADES
Summer Reading assignments for all grade levels are posted on our website! Go to http://www.kingsmen.org/, and then select Lower School, Middle School, or Upper School. The assignments are under “summer” in the left column. These will also be sent to local libraries and bookstores. Enjoy some great literature this summer!
SHARPEN UP YOUR MATH SKILLS THIS SUMMER!
6th through 8th grades, Pre- Algebra, Algebra and Geometry and even all high school (non-honors) math students please take note! Summer Math Skill Sharpener Books are available for parents to purchase. The web site is www.summerskills.com. Though this is not required for CHS students, it is strongly recommended for students who wish to prepare for the year ahead, as well as to strengthen skills acquired during the previous year. There is also a high school math booklet, which may be a great review for those taking the SAT. Books are $19 which include shipping and handling (answer keys are included). Please see Mrs. Reens (Math Department Chair) if you have any questions.
“SHAKE-IT-UP SHAKESPEARE” ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS
SHAKE-IT-UP SHAKESPEARE, Long Wharf Theatre's new summer youth theatre series, will hold auditions for a fun, new, musical take on William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Auditions will take place July 26-29, 1pm-5pm by appointment only. Those auditioning should be Non-Equity performers between the ages of 14-19 and have prepared a Shakespearean monologue from a comedy (not The Taming of the Shrew) and 32-bars of a contemporary pop song. There is no pay. The cast will be comprised of seven males and eight females, although there are some opportunities for flexible casting. Performers who can play bass, acoustic or electric guitar are encouraged to audition. Rehearsals will held Monday through Fridays 1:30 to 4:30 pm beginning Aug. 2. The performances will take place on Aug. 20-21. For more information and to sign up for a time slot, call Annie Dimartino at 203-772-8271.
HELP CHS RAISE $$ THROUGH eBAY!
For several years now, CHS has been part of “eBay Giving Works”, a program dedicated to charity listings on eBay. To participate in the past, you would have needed to list items on eBay on your own, and you still can do that! But beginning this summer, CHS volunteers are willing to list items for you, and handle the photographing, listing and shipping. For more details and information, please contact Lisa Caporaso at 203-256-8984 or caporaso@sbcglobal.net.
NEXT TAG SALE DATES
Save these dates for the next CHS Tag Sales! The Fall Tag Sale will be Saturday, September 11 (item drop off is Friday, September 10) and the Spring Tag Sale will be Saturday, April 16 (item drop off is Friday, April 15). If you never got to that spring cleaning, or if your spring cleaning turns into a bigger summer project, please keep CHS in mind! All items in good conditions are welcome and your unwanted stuff has helped raise over $15,000 for CHS since the first sale was held. For questions or more information, please contact Lisa Holeva in the Development Office at 203.261.6230 ext. 590 or lholeva@kingsmen.org, or Lisa Caporaso, CHS parent, at 203-256-8984 or caporaso@sbcglobal.net. Thanks!

NEWS FROM OUR ADMISSIONS DEPARTMENT:
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT HOST FAMILIES NEEDED
Are you interested in hosting an International Student? The Admissions Office has several opportunities for short term (one week, one weekend, one Saturday) or long-term (one semester or one year) host families. The students are in middle and high school, boys and girls. There is a host family stipend of approximately $700/month for long-term host families. Please contact Martha Olson in the Admissions office for details, molson@kingsmen.org or 203-261-6230 x555.
BUDDY FAMILIES NEEDED!
God is blessing CHS with many new students for next fall. One of the ways to keep admissions healthy is for current families to reach out to new families starting as soon as possible -- and throughout the summer. This is needed for both Upper and Lower School students. If you would like to help reach out to these new families, please contact Martha Olson in Admissions, molson@kingsmen.org or 203-261-6230, ext 555.
