Mrs. Maria Luft began working full time at CHS in September of 2009. She is a first grade teacher. She was a long-term sub in the fifth grade from March to June of 2008 when she filled in for a teacher on maternity leave. Maria previously served for nine years as a third grade teacher with the Trumbull Public Schools. Maria is also an alumna of CHS class of 1987.
Maria received a B.A. from Messiah College and then received an M.A. in Elementary Education from the University of New Haven. Maria and her husband, George, have three children, all of whom attend CHS.
Maria enjoys working at CHS because it is like "coming home." She says it has been great seeing some of her old teachers walk down the same halls that she used to walk, though she admits to having a difficult time calling them by their first names! She enjoys the Christian atmosphere and having prayer and devotional time with her class, something she never had the opportunity to do when teaching in the public school system. "The kids are a lot of fun!" she says.
