Barbara De Vries has been with CHS since 1994. She was a second grade teacher and then in the 2006-2007 school year became a teacher in the Learning Center.

Barbara received a B.A. from Barrington College. She and her husband, David, live in Trumbull and have two adult children.

Barb enjoys working at CHS because it not only affords her the opportunity to work with children, but also the privilege of representing Jesus to them in her classroom and the freedom of teaching of His great love for them. She appreciates her associates whom she respects not just as co-workers in this ministry, but as mentors and dear friends.

Barbara says she feels honored to join the Learning Center, where she finds great fulfillment working one-on-one with Lower School students. “There’s nothing quite like sharing the ‘Aha’ moment when a student grasps a concept, or the smiles that come with the ‘I can do it’ transformation in their faces and attitudes as they approach their schoolwork. The Learning Center is an invaluable opportunity for children who require the extra time to learn at their pace and receive remediation for solid mastery of concepts, which in turn boosts their confidence so that learning is fun. These little ones have many years of school ahead of them. I want them to love school and become all that God has designed for them to be.”
