James Bair joined the staff of CHS in 1984 as a High School English teacher and is currently the English Department Chair. Prior to working at CHS, he was an officer in the Coast Guard, manager of a Christian bookstore, and a teacher at a Christian school in New London, CT.

James has had numerous articles and poems published and has written two computer programs for EnglishPlus.com. He has served as a reader for the English Literature Advanced Placement Test since 2003 and taught English in China with the Town of Trumbull's Sister City exchange. He received the General Electric STAR Teacher award in 1990.

He is a graduate of Harvard (B.A.) and Southern Connecticut State (M.S.). He is an elder at Harvest Christian Center in Shelton. His two daughters both graduated from CHS. His wife, Janet, is also a writer and authored Devotions for Young Readers.
